For all the beloved QuoteTracker lovers, there have been some minor changes in the way you see things in order for enhancements to be made for TDameritrade Clients. TDameritrade clients can now chart the advance / decline line, but please not that TICK and advance / decline data cannot be backfilled with any broker through Quotetracker. For all the interactivebroker users out there, you may have noticed the Advance / Decline change, going from a ratio of the advance / decline, to a raw value of the advancing stocks minus the declining stocks.

Live Trading Video from this morning with NYSE A/D Trade Setup Explained
Watch live video from High Probability Trading on Justin.tv
We opened the day with a Gap Down and selling in Europe and Asia. My Hypothesis for the day was to gauge market internals and look for short setups. With regards to Market Profile, I was looking to short Value Area High with a target set to at least VWAP or VAL depending on volume and TICK readings. I call all my trades live everyday. I reviewed this mornings trading and saw what I did wrong. I exited my trades too soon. I should have scaled out of half and given more patience for the other half of the trade, leaving my original stop in place. Today should have been a big profit day, but instead I ended up with average profits. On the bright side, I learned something and there is always tomorrow for work to be done.

Daily Charts

The US dollar has rallied hard against all the other major currencies this week. Gold is around 875 and Crude Oil is hovering around $120. It seems the bullishness in the US dollar has helped support a bounce in US stocks and a drop in commodities. I'm remaining neutral / bullish on Stocks until the Euro bounces. At these levels, I'm watching Gold closely for a bounce.

Another Down Day
Covered bonds are going to be issued by BAC, JPM, WFC, and C.
Balance Sheets-
Wells Fargo
Bank of America
Citigroup
Washington Mutual

Missed the first 2 hours of trade. My short on ZB worked, but ER2 never bounced to a profit.
I did bad not following my signals, but I did good by keeping my stops and not letting a winning trade turn into a big loser.

July 21 Choppy Day after OPEX
I spent most the morning taking trades on the simulator and working on new audible alerts. I was a net loser on my simulator trades, but managed to scrape out a profit in my real account.

Big trading ranges seen in BAC and LEH.

I Needed about 30 minutes more patience for this trade to workout but kept getting stopped out of my long mid-day.

The NASDAQ A/D signals worked better than NYSE A/D signals today.
Choppy trading in the bonds this morning with some bearishness in stocks.

Wasted Day

I feel Like I've wasted my whole day working on indicators for my charts. I don't think I've accomplished anything. For the guy that wanted to know my indicators here's a pic of the list. I'm looking at price spikes, volume/or lack of volume, block trades and referencing the NYSE A/D ratio for market strength/weakness. If I find the energy, perhaps I will post my trading plan for trading index futures.(Not likely to happen soon).

July 17 Mixed Trading after big rally

I kind of expected choppy action today after having a large bounce in the markets yesterday and it being the day before Options expire. I was up as much as 600, but then I lost some profits after I tried shorting(reversing from a long) too soon around the signal at 8:30am. I ended up losing about $180 on YM on that trade. The NYSE A/D ratio is slightly bullish today.

I got a 20 cent scalp on Crude Oil before we sold off. My scalp on Crude Oil was a long, and my trade on Gold was a short. Both positions would have been wrong if I were still holding them.

The bond futures are down again today. I expect Bond Yields to rise over the next few months. I'm not sure whats a better bet, (ie long term bonds or short term bonds). I think the FOMC will raise rates at the next meeting, and as noted in some of their FOMC minutes, they may raise rates aggressively to combat inflation and a crumbling US dollar. The effect of raising rates on Mortgage rates will probably make the housing market even worse. This is probably why Bernanke and Co have been holding rates steady, moreover; I imagine they see the housing market as a bigger threat to the US economy right now than the US dollars decline.

July 15 Stock Market Reversal
With it being OPEX week, a VIX in the spike to 30, Oil tanking, and with FED actions, I think we have a short term bottom and the stock market will bounce.
Although the NYSE A/D line had bearish values, it has been climbing all day.

Looking at NYSE TICK has been a good indicator in helping find intraday reversal points.

Trading Review-
Traded 70 contracts. Sold a great Long on ER2 right before the market ripped higher, costing me 1-2k in lost profits from not scaling out correctly. Another Crazy day. It's been a struggle, up 500, down 400, up 700, and and now I'm quiting with 2 hours left to trade finishing at my high for the day. Market is choppy and I need to go to the gym and get ready for work.

Trading morning Gaps with NYSE A/D
Sometimes NYSE A/D opens up in a high range of say 3-5. When NYSE A/D is above 3 I'm looking for long trades, however, on this type of trading day, this strategy would have done badly because the gap up in the morning open was faded. Considering NYSE A/D started out around 5/1 and quickly dropped into the 2/1 range, this would indicate the morning gap is getting faded and I want to follow my trade signals without a LONG bias. Overall, put less confidence in NYSE A/D levels when there is a morning gap because these gaps have a high probability of getting faded. Give the market about 45min from market open to see if the morning gap will hold.

Apr 11, Bearish Day with Gap open lower
Today I sucked again. I had a hard time holding onto my shorts, (I covered too soon on my NQ shorts). Anyway, I need to work on my rules and signals more in conjunction with market internals. Also, I need to work on risk management on proper share size/contract size for a given setup. Overall this was a tough week and I feel I should have made more but I screwed up by trading against some of mysignals.

Bearish NYSE TICK readings almost all day

Bearish NYSE TICK readings almost all dayWednesday, 9 April 2008
Apr 9, somewhat bearish day
Looking at the market internals after the open, you could see we were setup for some bearish trading going into the day
NYSE TICK readings were bearish most of the morning.
NYSE TICK readings were bearish most of the morning.
I got 1 good short scalp on NQ that I covered too soon on around 10:20am.
I avg'ed into a 100 share loser on GOOG around 462, it dropped 2 dollars on me. I exit the loser around 460.4.
I keep watching this stock sell off everyday. Should have shorted it yesterday.

A clear trend down most the day.
Bonds were due for an upside breakout and were helped out by the weakness in the US Dollar.
